CNTV vindicates

"

The agency notes that "the December 8, television services deployed intense information transfer on the burning of the prison of San Miguel. For this coverage, only on Wednesday lasted over 49 hours, violated Articles 1 and 3 of the General Standards on Content of Television Broadcasts, 1993, and Article 1 of Law No. 18,838 , as agreed by NTV in its last meeting of Council."

Among the reasons listed as a violation to the Standard are the "intrusive and over-exposure of a state of extreme emotional vulnerability of families," the "repetition of images of the cries and pain of the families," the "monitoring them with cameras intrusive, "" the insistence of journalists to respond, "the" gore and sensationalism in presenting corpses "and" piercing screams of prisoners, "among others.

Article 3 of the General Standards on Content of Television Broadcasts, 1993, prohibits television services, in programs of a news or information, sensationalism in presenting facts or real situations involving, among others, excessive violence and gore.

Article 1 of the Law 18.838 defines the smooth running of television services as "the permanent respect, through its programming, the moral and cultural values ​​characteristic of the nation, the dignity, the protection of family pluralism, to democracy, to peace, the protection of the environment and the spiritual and intellectual formation of children and youth within the framework of values. "
